At Ewyas Harold Primary, we believe that learning to read is one of the most important and exciting journeys a child will ever take. Reading is not just a skill—it opens the door to imagination, curiosity, confidence, and lifelong learning. This page has been created to give support to nurture a love of reading at home.
Developing strong reading habits from an early age has a powerful and lasting impact. Children who read regularly build a richer vocabulary, improve their understanding of the world, and develop stronger writing and communication skills. Just as importantly, children who enjoy reading are far more likely to continue reading as they grow, supporting academic success across all subjects and well into later life.
The resources linked on this page are designed to make reading fun, engaging, and accessible for all learners. Whether your child prefers stories, non-fiction, interactive games, or listening to books, there is something here to spark their interest and keep them motivated.
We encourage families to make time for reading every day—sharing stories, talking about books, and celebrating progress together. By fostering a positive reading culture at home, you are helping your child build the confidence and enthusiasm that will support them throughout their education and beyond.
