In English both year groups will be looking at a range of books, both fiction and non-fiction and writing a range of genres based on these books. They have looked at poetry and written their own poem as part of National Poetry Day.
As part of our Phonic sessions, Y1 and Y2 will be taught separately focusing on a sound that is relevant to their year group. This sound will be taught all week, along with the spelling patterns and rules for that sound. Year 2 will have their new words relating to that week’s sound, stuck into their reading diary and an information sheet will also be sent home for you to look at to help with supporting your child with their new sound. During these sessions both year groups will be practising handwriting, focusing on the correct letter formation.
In Maths Year 1 will focus on place value, number bonds to 10 and addition and subtraction. Year 2 will also be focusing on place value, number bonds to 20 and addition and subtraction. t
In Science the children are looking at Plants with the children working scientifically, gathering and recording data.
In History our topic is, ‘How am I making history?’ The children have created their own timeline of key events in their lives, so far.
In PSHE ‘Being me in my world’ is our topic and our big question In R.E. this term is, ‘Who do Christians say made the world?’
